Condiciones perfectas para la segunda Miami Women's Invitational

Twenty sailors and nine teams participated in the 2021 Miami Women's Invite this past weekend. The event used the clinic & regatta format that is typical of the Snipe Women's Challenge Series, with a clinic and practice races on Saturday followed by a regatta on Sunday. The regatta was won by 2019 Pan American Games Gold medalist crew, Hallie Schiffman, sailing with a combination of Margaux Bacro-Duverger and Christina Persson.

US Class National Secretary Evan Hoffman, Martin Hermida, Liam Muzenmaier, and Kathleen Tocke coached the clinic. Top skippers and crews, Connie Commette, Barbie Brotons, Gracie Howie, & Taylor Scheuermann all contributed to coaching for the on-land portion of the clinic. Day one brought sunny skies and perfect light to medium breeze for practicing boat-handling and mark roundings. At the end of the day sailors and coaches enjoyed a Cuban dinner together at the Sailing Center.

Racing commenced at 10:30 on Sunday, with five shorter length races being run. Because the Women's Invite is learning and training event, each race was proceeded by two practice starts. Coaching was allowed during the races, so all team could take advantage a second set of eyes to make them go faster around the course. Racing was followed by a picnic lunch and a debrief led by multi-time US Snipe Champion, Connie Commette.
